We become them

TTT and I were outside, getting ready to go for a walk around the block.

“Jory, you can leave the gate open,” I said, “we’ll be right back.”

“No, because they’ll be able to see on our property,” he answered back.

Jory knows the word property and is using it in a sentence correctly.  They’ll be able to see on our property?  Oh, wait.  Wait.  Okay, Oma, close the gate.  We do become our parents or in this case our grandparents.  “Close the gate then,” I said with a smile.
