This morning Jory and I went over his ten spelling words. On this hump day, he knew two perfectly the others he was off by a letter or two. After we finished, we moved on to his verses for AWANA. During a pause between the verses, Jory asked me something he's never asked me before.
"Mommy, can we go back over the spelling words?"
Is he serious? "You want to go back over your spelling words?" Really? Are we reaching a new age of maturity?
"Yes."
"Okay, but because we just went over them, you'll have to spell them correctly now and again tonight when I pick you up."
"Okay."
Okay. Let's move forward into this brand new world. "Broken."
"B-R-O-K-E-N."
"Good job."
"Human."
"H-U-M-A-N."
"Good job."
"Basic."
"B-A-S-I-C."
"Jory, what are you reading?" I asked, turning my head to see him bent over reading my missing lesson plan pages.
He handed me the papers and we went back to our verses. "And the angel said unto them..."
What gave him away you ask? Five minutes before basic had been spelled with a "ck" and I acknowledged how confusing it was to hear the word "sick" in "basic", but it wasn't spelt the same way. It was spellt with a "c".
He and I are both getting older too.....
