School in the car

Helpful and hopeful aren’t the same words.  And regardless of what Jory says, they don’t rhyme.  Yes, they both end in the suffix –ful, but that doesn’t mean they rhyme.  A whole car ride of just trying to spell hopeful and helpful.  Say it.  Spell it.  Helpful.  H-E-L-P-F-U-L.  Hopeful.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!

We had to move on to other words before I went insane.

"Next word.  Say it.  Spell it.  Careful.

" C-A-F-U-L. "

"Sound that out."

"Caveful."

"Cave is C-A-V-E. The word is careful."

"Sounds like cave to me," he replied nonchalantly.

Is he getting smart with me?  I can't do this.

"Hopeful.  Say it.  Spell it."  This is a better route for us to take.
