I came home from work and saw that the house was empty,
but my aunts' cars were parked outside.
Hmm, oh yes, it was time for the space shuttle to move down the
street. I changed clothes and walked up
the block to see if I saw my family as soon as I was about to call, I saw my
mom. The kids ran to me as if they had
never seen me before.
We hung out. I
wasn’t so into this thing. Okay, a space
shuttle was coming down the street. Happy,
happy, joy, joy. I just wasn’t feeling
it, but my mom was. And she really
wanted to experience the Endeavor with her grandchildren, which I would have
considered but Mr. Will was at the pool waiting for TTT for swimming
lessons. People said if you stood in the
middle of the street you could see the top of it. I took each one into the middle of the street
so they could see it. I think in the
haze, I think I saw the top of it, but I’m not sure now.
I told my mom that I’d make sure they saw it from the
mall and off we went. Traffic was
everyone with people trying to get around the shuttle or people trying to get
to the shuttle. We finally made it to
swimming lessons. The kids did their
thing and it was time to go home. We
made it to the mall, but entrances were closed.
The parking lot was full though I saw some spots at the top of the
parking garage. As we inched along, I
saw people away from the mall. Had the
space shuttle come and gone and we missed it?
It was possible.
We had left my
mom at 1:30 and it was now 4PM. Oh well,
they could see it on TV and they’d be fine.
Rowan and Layla had seen it on Friday with their school. Jory had seen it land at LAX, so I felt they
were covered, and then my phone rang. It
was my aunt. The Endeavor still hadn’t
made it to our house and they thought there was time enough time for us to get
home in all the traffic and see it with the family.
And sure enough there was, my mom got her wish to see the
shuttle with her grandchildren.
