Jory finished reading about a baby placed in a basket and
sent down the river. The baby’s name was
Moses. I pointed out to him that the Pharaoh's daughter adopted Moses. Jory
looked at the pictures of baby Moses with both his mothers.
He pointed to the picture of woman next to the baby Moses
basket and said, “That’s his birth mother?”
I’m sure the picture is supposed to be of Miriam, but it
looked like a picture of an adult woman, so I said, “Yes, that’s his birth
mother.”
Ah yes, the adoption stuff was getting through. So I decided to keep the roll going.
“Do you know what Moses ends up doing?”
"He builds an ark,” Rowan answered.
“Uh, no, that’s Noah,” I said.
“He walks around the wall seven times,” Jory answered.
“Uh, okay, no, that’s Joshua. You know what we’ll find out what Moses does
tomorrow.” I ended the conversation.
Maybe I should have left things alone with the adoption talk. Part of me is super impressed that Jory
remembered the story of Joshua walking around the wall (that Josh and the Big
Wall movie really sunk in) and that Noah build the ark. It’s good for them to know their history, but
the other part was shocked that they didn’t know about Moses and all he had
done. But when all is said and done, the
stories are sinking in. And that is a
good thing.
