The joys of remodeling and Oma

In the ongoing saga that is our remodeling job.... We got a bar/island added to the kitchen.  Oma decided that she simply couldn't live with the bar/island having one type of countertop and the rest of the kitchen having another.  This was after she got over the shock that they still don't make her beloved countertop from the last kitchen remodel, which was somewhere between my dad dying and Jory coming home, so the current countertop is a minimum of 8 years old.

So I went to wash the dishes and she says, oh this is made from granite so you can't leave anything on the countertop because it will leave a ring on the granite.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!  Deep breaths.  So I inquired further, "So every time the dishes are washed, I need to put a dry dishtowel on the counter so the cups and the bowls won't leave rings?  Is that practical?"

"I remember to do that."

End of scene.  The sandwich generation when both your kids and their Oma are in cahoots to drive you to the nut house in a race car.
