Interesting thoughts...

Jory and I walked into the Cubbies’ room to pick up the girls. Jory ran off to play while I supervised the girls putting up the toys they were playing with and get their stuff. One of the leaders came up to me.

“I helped Layla write her name on her paper and it was quite funny,” the leader stated.

“How so?” I inquired.

“She wrote ‘L,’ ‘A,’ ‘Y,’ then I told her to write another ‘L’ and she said, ‘But I already wrote ‘L’. It’s right here.’”

Yes, I thought that does sound like my little argumentative, needs to be right baby.

“I told her, ‘I know, but you have two ‘L’s in your name. She wrote the second ‘L,’ then I told her write ‘A.’ She said, ‘But teacher, I already wrote ‘A’ see it’s right here.’ I finally convinced her there were two ‘L’s and two ‘A’s in her name,” the leader chuckled. “I never thought about how strange it might feel to little ones to write the same letter multiple times in the same word.”

I nodded. That is true, that might seem weird when you first learn to write. Though strangely when Layla writes her first name, I ‘ve never heard her comment about writing ‘A’ three times.
