VBS - The final day!!!!!

Yiippeee!  It was Friday!  I could sleep in tomorrow!  I wouldn’t have to give anyone baths tonight when we got home!  SCORE!  We got out the door on time which meant I got into work on time.  Yippeee!!!  I got off work, picked the kids up, and drove to the church.  Tonight after the closing ceremony, there would be hot dogs, chips, and drinks for everyone.  Yippee!!!  No spending money on more food.

A kind woman who I’ve met before and have talked to via email (she’s a homeschooling mom) share her edamames and other snacks she brought for her kids with TTT, who were starving as the tech crew finished setting up mikes and things for the closing ceremonies.  I am so horrible with names.  I can remember stories, but names, not so good with.

Pastor Jim opened with a prayer, then asked for more prayer for the families and everyone affected by the gunmen who shot up the theater in Colorado.  And it became personal when he shared that one of the women from the church who had been assisting with VBS was asking for prayer for her family.  Her cousin’s daughter had gone to the midnight showing of The Dark Night Rises and they hadn’t been able to get in touch with her.  I knew the prayer was that she was okay, but just couldn’t contact them.  My heart went out to her family.  We prayed and then the ceremony started.

Over 140 people participated to make VBS happen, I thought that was awesome.  Look what God’s believers can do when they work together.  Rowan’s and the baby’s group went up to the stage and sang songs like “The B-I-B-L-E” and “If I Were a Butterfly.”  Then Jory’s group came out and they sang songs I didn’t know, but the lyrics touched me.  “If you need wisdom/God’s got it/If you need patience/God’s got it/If you’re feeling scared/God’s there.”  Tears welled up in my eyes that my son was learning this, singing this, hopefully it was all sinking in to that brain of his.  How many parents of the kids in the theater in Colorado wished their kids knew God for themselves?  Had a relationship with Him?

After all the helpers were thanked, then it was inside to watch a video montage of VBS.  I cheered loudly when I saw TTT.  They are so photogenic, why can’t they be discovered and get enough work so I can be debt free, we can get a new car, go on an awesome cruise, hire a nanny type to watch them during the day and make sure Jory does his schoolwork, and put some money in the bank?  I don’t want them to be Lindsay or Brit Brit cray cray.  Why won’t Whitney give us a reality show?  I don’t need multiple seasons just one or two decent paying seasons.  Bygones.

We ate our hot dogs, chips, soda, and I was freezing in my Ao Dai.  I gathered the kiddos after I grabbed the high Jory from his running after and from his buddy.  We got home and I sank into bed.  I thank God I had the opportunity to take my kids to VBS.  I thanked Him that we had a great, Bible believing church to attend where they could go to VBS.  I was thankful TTT got to experience it and learn more about Christ.  God is good, all the time.  I’m so grateful and thankful and so loving that.
