Jory is daily getting one step closer to becoming eight
and it seems turning eight means finding ways to drive your mother mad.
With our long break, I decided to introduce the world of
borrowing to him. He watched the lesson,
said he got it. We did some problems
together, he got them correct, life was good.
Tonight I gave him a worksheet to do with borrowing problems.
“Jory, why are you adding that problem?” I asked.
“Oh, is that a subtraction sign?” he questioned in
return.
I knew it was time for me to get busy with some chores or
I was going to strangle him. I do some
housework and hear.
“Mommy, what’s eight minus four?”
“Mommy, what’s four minus two?”
“Mommy, what’s five minus zero?”
Count to ten.
Count to ten. Deep, cleansing
breath. I went into the other room and
counted out twenty coins and brought them to him.
“Use these to subtract.”
“Okay.”
Two hours later, he was done with the ten problems.
Oh, his plot is so good.
So devious.
