Oma declared it was time for everyone to sleep in their
own beds, which translates to she feels comfortable enough, security wise, that
they can sleep on their own beds. Plus
it doesn’t hurt that she’s sleeping in the family room which is right in front
of the girls’ room and an ear and eye shot away from Jory’s.
We said our prayers and I tucked the baby in the bed
nearest the door. I figured if either of
the two would get out of bed in the middle of the night, it would be her so she
should be closest to the door. Then I
tucked Rowan into her bed. I gave them
kisses and walked out of the room, down the hall to Jory’s room. He said his bedtime prayers, got into bed,
gave me a kiss and I
was off.
I went into my room, closed the door, and got into my
bed. I was all by myself. I could sing, All by myself, and not disturb
anyone else’s sleep. When was the last
time this happened? Honestly. Wow!!
Let’s see. I was hardcore with Jory,
so he stayed in his crib, then his toddler bed.
I think it was Sasha, that’s when the bed sharing started.
She had a strawberry on the top of her head. I woke up one morning to see that in her
sleep she had rubbed the strawberry against the bars of her cradle and I
freaked out. Rushed her to the doctor,
to hear the doctor say, “You should put some Neosporin on it.” Are you kidding me?!?! The nurse did try to bandage her, which was a
funny sight to see. She had a head full
of dark brown hair; her strawberry was on the top of the head. Uh, how are you going to put a band aid on
her hair? She ended up putting a gauze
on Sasha’s strawberry then putting her hat on to keep it in place.
Happy laughed when I told her the story as she pulled the
hat off of Sasha’s head. That night I put
Sasha down for bed. The little Israelite
slowly started creeping over to the bars of the cradle. Are you kidding me? My fear that she burst the strawberry or do something
much worse to it, had me taking her out of the cradle and laying her in the bed
next to me, where if I remember correctly no scooting was going on. I was totally conned. Totally conned back in 2007 and now five
years later, my bed was being reclaimed and it felt good.
